Peak Performance

 Peak Performance

"I have learned to practice what I call
'constructive dissatisfaction.' "     Leo Burnett

Recently, a client called me for advice on how to handle a problem employee.  After she listed all the deficiencies in the person's performance, I asked how long the employee had been delivering unacceptable results.  "About five or six years," she replied.

Lots of us "tolerate" problems and challenges instead of facing the issues head-on and making a change.  We develop "work arounds" to give us a sense of control and stability instead of taking steps to create a better situation.  These compromises sap our energy and creativity in such a methodical way that we often don't recognize the damage they cause.

Leo Burnett's "construction dissatisfaction" is a more effective approach.  It requires that we ferret out what's not working and take steps to correct it.

In this spirit, I've decided to take a hiatus from publishing the bimonthly Peak Performance newsletter to which you've subscribed.  I recognize that I'm personally dissatisfied with the format and timing of Peak Performance, and I want to start over with a clear slate.

I invite you to start 2007 by joining me in practicing "constructive dissatisfaction" with anything that has been gnawing at you.  Contact me for a complimentary consultation in which we'll quickly clarify the issue, so that you can move powerfully forward.

And please do stay subscribed to my distribution list. The best is ahead of us!

Happy New Year!
